(@MoneyFitbyDRS). âIf the collection agency threatens to send a sheriff to your doorstep, it is likely a scam and definitely a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.If the debt collector will not or cannot tell you what the debt was for, hang up. If the collection agency canât provide you within 30 days documentation of what the debt was originally for, block their number and hang up on them.âWhile some people have gone to extraordinary lengths to fight back against fake debt collectors, their path certainly isnt for everyone. And while hanging up a suspected scammer is always a good response, there are other methods you can use as well!Heres how you can deal with them.Above all else, do not give them any of your personal information.âDo NOT give the debt collector your payment information (card and certainly never your bank account information) until you have received satisfactory proof by mail that you actually owe the money,â warned Christensen.âAsk for the mailing address under whatever pretense you like (e.g. âso I can send a paymentâ), then, if you feel you have been scammed or are the target of a scam, contact a local nonprofit credit counseling agency or e ven an attorney specializing in consumer debt.The credit counseling agency should not charge to guide you in drafting a letter to request the organization cease contacting you. However, an attorney may charge $100 or more for the service. Iâve had a client who has been the target of repeated debt scams. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (August 1, 1924ââ¬âJanuary 23, 2015) was the king of Saudia Arabia from 2005 to 2015. During his reign, tensions increased between conservative Salafi (Wahhabi) forces and liberal reformers. While the king positioned himself as a relative moderate, he did not promote many substantive reforms; in fact, during Abdullahs tenure, Sauda Arabia was accused of numerous human rights violations. Education Details of Abdullahs education are sparse, but the official Saudi Information Directory states that he had a formal religious education. According to the Directory, Abdullah supplemented his formal schooling with extensive reading. He also spent a long stint living with the desert Bedouin people in order to learn traditional Arab values. Career In August 1962, Prince Abdullah was appointed to lead the Saudi Arabian National Guard. The National Guards duties include providing security for the royal family, preventing coups, and guarding the Muslim Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina. The force includes a standing army of 125,000 men, plus a tribal militia of 25,000. In March 1975, Abdullahs half-brother Khalid succeeded to the throne upon the assassination of another half-brother, King Faisal. King Khalid appointed Prince Abdullah second deputy prime minister. In 1982, the throne passed to King Fahd after Khalids death and Prince Abdullah was promoted once more, this time to deputy prime minister. In this role, he presided over meetings of the kings cabinet. King Fahd also officially named Abdullah the Crown Prince, meaning he was next in line for the throne. Regent In December 1995, King Fahd had a series of strokes that left him more or less incapacitated and unable to fulfill his political duties. For the next nine years, Crown Prince Abdullah acted as regent for his brother, although Fahd and his cronies still wielded considerable influence over public policy. King of Saudi Arabia King Fahd died on August 1, 2005, and Crown Prince Abdullah became king, taking power in name as well as in practice. He inherited a nation torn between fundamentalist Islamists and modernizing reformers. The fundamentalists sometimes used terrorist acts (such as bombing and kidnapping) to express their anger over issues like the stationing of American troops on Saudi soil. The modernizers increasingly used blogs and pressure from international groups to call for increased womens rights, reform of Sharia-based laws, and greater press and religious freedoms. King Abdullah cracked down on the Islamistsà but didnt make the significant reforms for which many observers both inside and outside of Saudi Arabia had hoped. Foreign Policy King Abdullahà was known throughout his career as a staunch Arab nationalist, yet he reached out to other countries as well. In 2002, for example, the king put forth a Middle East Peace Plan. It received renewed attention in 2005, but has languished since then and has yet to be implemented. The plan calls for a return to the pre-1967 borders and a right of return for Palestinian refugees. In return, Israel would control the Western Wall and some of the West Bank, and receive recognition from Arab states. To placate Saudi Islamists, the king disallowed U.S. Iraq War forces to use bases in Saudi Arabia. Personal Life King Abdullah had more than 30 wivesà and fathered at least 35 children. According to the Saudi Embassys Official Biography of the King, he bred Arabian horsesà and founded the Riyadh Equestrian Club. He also loved to read, and established libraries in Riyadh and Casablanca, Morocco. American ham radio operators also enjoyed chatting on the air with the Saudi king. At the time of his death, the king had a personal fortune estimated at $18 billion, making him among the top five richest royals in the world. Death King Abdullah became ill and was taken to the hospital at the beginning of 2015. He died on January 23 at the age of 90. Legacy After King Abdullahs death, his half-brother Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud became the king of Saudi Arabia. Abdullahs legacy is a controversial one. In 2012, the United Nations awarded him a UNESCO Gold Medal for his efforts to promote dialogue and peace in the Middle East. Other groupsââ¬âincluding Human Rights Watchââ¬âcriticized the king for his alleged human rights violations, including the mistreatment of prisoners. Abdullah was also criticized for his policies on religious freedom. In 2012, for example, the Saudi poet Hamza Kashgari was arrested for making several Twitter posts that allegedly denigrated the Islamic prophet Muhammed; he was imprisoned for nearly two years. Humans rights groups such as Amnesty International were highly critical of Saudi Arabias handling of the case. In planning for the new South Dakota-class, naval architects created a wide array of designs for consideration.à A central challenge proved to be finding ways to improve upon the North Carolina-class but remain within the tonnage limit.à The answer was the design of a shorter, by around 50 feet, battleship that utilized an inclined armor system.à This provided better underwater protection than earlier vessels.à As fleet commanders called for vessels capable of 27 knots, naval architects worked to find a way to achieve this despite the reduced hull length.à This was solved through the creative layout of machinery, boilers, and turbines.à For armament, the South Dakotas matched the North Carolinas in carrying nine Mark 6 16 guns in three triple turrets with a secondary battery of twenty dual-purpose 5 guns.à These guns were supplemented by an extensive and constantly evolving array of anti-aircraft weapons.à Assigned to Newport News Shipbuilding, the second ship of the class, USS Indiana (BB-58), was laid down on November 20, 1939.à Work on the battleship progressed and it entered the water on November 21, 1941, with Margaret Robbins, daughter of Indiana Governor Henry F. Schricker, serving as sponsor.à As building moved toward completion, the US entered World War II following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.à Commissioned on April 30, 1942, Indiana commenced service with Captain Aaron S. Merrill in command.à Journey to the Pacific Steaming north,à Indianaà conducted its shakedown operations in and around Casco Bay, ME before receiving orders to join Allied forces in the Pacific. à Transiting the Panama Canal, the battleship made for the South Pacific where it was attached Rear Admiral Willis A. Steele, admitted to being out of position and was relieved of his post. à Returning to Majuro,à Indianaà made temporary repairs before proceeding to Pearl Harbor for additional work. à The battleship remained out of action until April whileà Washington, whose bow was severely damaged,à did not rejoin the fleet until May.à à à à Island Hopping Sailing with Vice Admiral Marc Mitschers Fast Carrier Task Force, Indiana screened the carriers during raids against Truk on April 29-30.à After bombarding Ponape on May 1, the battleship proceeded to the Marianas the following month to support the invasions of Saipan and Tinian.à Pounding targets on Saipan on June 13-14, Indiana aided in repelling air attacks two days later.à On June 19-20, it supported the carriers during the victory at the Battle of the Philippine Sea.à With the end of the campaign, Indiana moved on to attack targets in the Palau Islands in August and protected the carriers as they raided into the Philippines a month later.à Receiving orders for an overhaul, the battleship departed and entered Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on October 23.à The timing of this work led it to miss the pivotal Battle of Leyte Gulf. With the completion work in the yard, Indiana sailed and reached Pearl Harbor on December 12.à Following refresher training, the battleship rejoined combat operations and bombarded Iwo Jima on January 24 while en route to Ulithi.à Arriving there, it put to sea a short time later to assist in the invasion of Iwo Jima.à While operating around the island, Indiana and the carriers raided north to strike targets in Japan on February 17 and 25.à Replenishing at Ulithi in early March, the battleship then sailed as part of the force tasked with the invasion of Okinawa.à After supporting the landings on April 1, Indiana continued to conduct missions in the waters offshore into June.à The following month, it moved north with the carriers to mount a series of attacks, including shore bombardments, on the Japanese mainland.à It was engaged in these activities when hostilities ended on August 15. Lovers stopped in time, unable to proceed to the lip locking trophy of affection. A simple four letter word that has changed the world by its beauty and awe. What are these interesting pictures of words and love? The Kiss, a dramatic scene unfolding before everyone created by Auguste Rodin, and LOVE, the simplistic sucker punch created by Robert Indiana, are wonderful creations that have both an impact and a meaning. These two sculptures have graced the art world with all their beauty leaving some breathless. They mean so many different things with different imagining, reside in separate parts of the world, but some sculptures are more well-known. In this case LOVE is more Known. To begin with, we all think of love as this beautiful, wondrous emotion that comes with a flood of hugs, and kisses. The Kiss, also identified as Francesca da Rimini, is a stunning picture of people in love. Auguste Rodin put everything he had into making this impressionist replica of the young, adulterous couple, Paolo and Francesca, from Dante's Inferno. Created in 1889, the figure is created in a way to symbolize that the lovers are focused on each other that you can hardly see their faces. The kiss that they are about to give each other is made to not have completely gone through, because Gianciotto Malatesta, Francesca's husband, killed both of them before they could finally achieve their kiss. It is a truly sensual piece due to the couple being nude, as well as, the smooth texture of the people compared to the roughness of the marble rock below them. Repton School Essay
Amit Ruparel, 15, is a boarder at Repton School, doing his GCSEs. He lives in Derby with his parents, brother and sister. I wake up at around half-past seven with a big yawn. I then get up, grab my towel and shower gel, go downstairs and have a shower. Every time I wake up at this time of the morning I think if I were at home I would be still asleep. As soon as I have had my shower I go back upstairs and get changed. I then go downstairs for breakfast, which is compulsory. For breakfast I have a bowl of cereal and a glass of fresh orange juice. I like eating cereal at any time of the day. I think that it is nice at any point of the day. I also believe that fresh orange juice is really good for you. Recently I have been trying to be careful with my diet due to my weight, I am trying to eat as healthier as possible. When I have had my breakfast I go upstairs and check if I have any unfinished prep to do and if I do then I get on with it. If I have not got any unfinished prep or any other work to be getting on with I turn on my computer and play some games. My computer is a very important part of my life; I could not do much with out it. I have always used the computer wherever I can; I use it for my work as well as playing on it when I am bored. I get my books ready a few minutes later so I leave the house five minutes before the lessons start or even earlier, so that I do not get punished for being late to a lesson. My school is like a mini village in where by you do not have to walk so far, therefore I do not have to leave to go to school so early. The first lesson starts at ten to nine and ends at half past nine. I then have a five-minute break, which I get between every lesson. After the third lesson I have a break for half an hour. During the break I usually get myself a drink and a snack to eat. At one oââ¬â¢clock, after the fifth lesson, I have lunch, which lasts around forty minutes. I then go to my room and listen to music on my computer for ten to fifteen minutes, then get my books and go to the last three lessons, which finish at four oââ¬â¢clock, unless I have a half day. If so I will carry on playing on my computer or get changed and go to computer programming. I do computer programming because I enjoy playing around with software and also I have had past experience on it because I always watch my brother on the computer whilst he is making new programmes as project and so I would know quite a bit about making them. I like computers so much that I am thinking about taking a career towards those lines. On a Tuesday (half ââ¬â day) once I have finished computer programming I will go to badminton for an hour, but if it is a Thursday I will go and hang around with my friends. After badminton I come back to the house, have a shower and then go and ââ¬Ëhang outââ¬â¢ with my friends. I come back to the house after five always finding someone in the house yard to play a game of football with. I go to tea at six oââ¬â¢clock. I think that in our house tea is the nicest meal. As soon as I have finished I run outside and play football in the yard again but I would prefer being on holiday, as I would be out playing cricket or at home playing on the Playstation 2. I have always loved holidays and going home for them. When I am at home it is so relaxing and there is not much work to be donââ¬â¢t and if there is then it can be done when I am bored. I go upstairs at seven oââ¬â¢clock get my books for the subjects that I have prep to do for and then go downstairs to ââ¬Ëthe workerââ¬â¢ and do my prep there. This is the part of the day, which I find most boring and when I wish that I was at home. I go downstairs and watch TV for a while after prep, but if nothing interesting is on I go and play on my computer. At this point if I was at home I would be going out with my friends. I go upstairs from the TV room to my room at half ten if I was downstairs to get ready for bed. At quarter to eleven it is lights out. I hate going to bed so early if I was home Iââ¬â¢d still be out with my friends. I like going out at night. I find the vibe that is around you at night is amazing. When I go out at night it would probably be going to the cinema, playing pool at a club called Rileys or to the pub.
